Yardbird Landscaping has 40 m of fencing with which to enclose a rectangular garden. If the garden is x meters long, express the garden's area as a function of the length.

Garden: perimeter(length of fencing needed to enclose it) = 40m and length = x

 P = 2L + 2W = 44   0r 

       L + W = 22     AND  W = 22 - L  OR
