Question 644665: The perimeter of a rectangle equals the sum of the lengths of it's four sides. If the width of a rectangle is 6 inches and it's perimeter is 46inches, find the length of the rectangle.
I need to show how this problem is solved, and other than using addition (I think) I don't know how to solve it. Thank you very much for your time.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
The perimeter of a rectangle equals the sum of the lengths of it's four sides. If the width of a rectangle is 6 inches and it's perimeter is 46inches, find the length of the rectangle.
I need to show how this problem is solved, and other than using addition (I think) I don't know how to solve it.-----
---------------------
Draw a rectangle.
Let the width be 6.
Let the length be "L".
Perimeter is 46
-----
Equation:
P = 2(L + 6)
46 = 2L + 12
2L = 34
Length = 17 inches
