Question 623509: A rectangle is twice as long as it is wide. The perimeter is 84 feet. how can i find the dimensions?
Answer by jim_thompson5910(35256) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Hint: "A rectangle is twice as long as it is wide" means that L = 2W
"The perimeter is 84 feet" means that P = 2L+2W ---> 84 = 2L+2W
From here, plug in L = 2W to get 84 = 2*2W + 2W which becomes 84 = 4W + 2W
I'll let you finish. You simply need to solve for W. Then use the solution for W to find L.
