Question 601251: A rectangle has an area of 190 cm and a perimeter of 58 cm. What are its dimensions?
Answer by mananth(16946) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
length = l
width = w
l*w = 190
2(l+w)= 58
/2
(l+w)= 29
l= 190/w
190/w + w = 29
multiply equation by w
190+w^2=29w
w^2-29w+190=0
w^2-19w-10w+190
w(w-19)-10(w-19)=0
(w-19)(w-10)=0
w= 19 OR 10
The length = 19 cm width = 10cm
