Question 599120: The length of a rectangle is five times its width.
If the perimeter of the rectangle is 96cm,find its area.
Answer by jim_thompson5910(35256) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
P = 2(L+W)
96 = 2(5W + W)
96/2 = 6W
48 = 6W
48/6 = W
8 = W
W = 8
So the width is 8 cm
L = 5W
L = 5(8)
L = 40
and the length is 40 cm
A = LW
A = 40*8
A = 320
So the area is 320 square centimeters.
