Question 549446: A rectangle is 8cm longer than it is wide. If its length and width are both increased by 2cm, its area is increased by 68cm². Find its original dimensions
Answer by mananth(16946) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
width = x
length = x+8
Area = x(x+8)
------
New width = x+2
New length = x+10
New Area == (x+2)(x+10)
(x+2)(x+10)-x(x+8)= 68
4x=68-20
4x=48
/4
x=12 cm the width
length = 12+8 =20cm
