the sides of a rectangle are in the ratio of 3:5 and the rectangles area is 135 sq cm. find the dimensions of the rectangle.
------
3:5 is the same as 3x:5x
----
Equation:
3x*5x = 135
15x^2 = 135
x^2 = 9
x = 3
----
Dimensions:
3x = 9 cm
5x = 15 cm

the ratio of sides = 3/5
multiply by constant x
3x=width
length = 5x
Area = L*W
135 = 3x*5x
135=15x^2
135/15= x^2
9=x^2
x= 3
width =>3x= 9
Length = 15
