Question 515791: The length of a rectangle is 2ft longer than its width.
If the perimeter of the rectangle is 40ft , find its area.
Answer by Maths68(1474) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Perimeter = P = 40 ft
Width = w
Length = w+2
Perimeter = 2l +2w
40=2(w+2)+2w
40=2w+4+2w
40=4w+4
40-4=4w
36=4w
36/4=4w/4
9=w
w=9
Perimeter = P = 40 ft
Width = w = 9
Length = w+2 = 9+2 = 11
