Question 505155: The length of a rectangle is twice the width. The perimeter is 48 in. Find the dimensions of the rectangle.

Answer by Maths68(1474)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Let
Length = l = 2w
width = w
Perimeter = P = 48
P = 2l + 2w
Given l=2w
48=2(2w) + 2w
48=4w + 2w
48=6w
Divide by 6 both sides of above equation
48/6=6w/6
8=w
w=8
Dimensions of rectangle
Length = l = 2w = 2 (8) = 16
width = w = 8
Perimeter = P = 48
