Question 497788: the perimeter of a rectangle is 64 ft. the lenght is 8 ft less than 3 times the width. find the length and width
Answer by cleomenius(959) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
l = 3x - 8
w = x
2(3x - 8) + 2x = 64.
6x -16 + 2x = 64
8x = 80
x = 10 ft the width.
The length = 3(10) - 8 = 22 ft.
2(22) + 2(10) = 64 feet. This does check.
