A rectangle has a length of 6 meters and a perimeter of 20 meters

Let x represent the width and (2x+2) the length

 2*(2x+2) + 2x = 46m    |checking our answer: 32m + 14m = 46m

         6x = 42m

          x = 7m, the width.  The length is 16m (2*7m+2m)
