"by how much does the area of a rectangle increase if its dimensions are doubled"

Area of a rectangle = length x width

For example:
length = 7
width = 3
Area = 3 x 7 = 21

Double dimensions:
length = 14
width = 6
Area = 14 x 6 = 84

---------------------

Another example:
length = 5
width = 2
Area = 5 x 2 = 10

Double dimensions:
length = 10
widht = 4
Area = 10 x 4 = 40

Looks like the area is quadrupled {4 times}
