The phrase "area of the area of the rug" somewhat bewilders me...

Anyway, using P+=+2%28L%2BW%29, substituting P = 20 and W = 3,

20+=+2%28L%2B3%29

10+=+L%2B3 --> L+=+7. The length is 7 and the width is 3, so the area A is A+=+LW+=+7%2A3+=+21 (sq feet).
