Let's have the width be "w" and the length be "5w", as the problem says that the length is five times greater than the width.
Now, like I said, the perimeter of a rectangle is the value of all of its sides added together. There are two widths(w) and two lengths(5w) in every rectangle, which means that you just have to add two of each together.
(w)+(w)+(5w)+(5w)=60
Combine your like terms, so combine all the w's.
12w=60
Divide both sides by 12 to get your variable(w) completely alone.
w=5
The width is 5. Now plug that back into your variables.
w=5
5w=25
Your width is 5 cm and your length is 25 cm.
