let x be the length a rectangles with an area of 200 meters squared

x*w = 200m^2

w= 200m^2/x



a) express the perimeter P as a function of x.

P(x) = 2*x + 2*(200m^2/x)



b) find the dimensions of a rectangle whose perimeter is 70 m

70m = 2x + 400m^2/x

70x = 2x^2 + 400m^2

0= 2x^2 -70x + 400m^2

0= x^2 -35x + 200m^2
