Question 350488: a 20% raise in salary gives a new salary of $46225. what was the old salary?
Answer by tjhd(7)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
46,225..
(if you don't know what 20% is as a decimal do 20/100, you get .2)
take the new salary and multiply it by .2 (46,225 x .2)
46,225 x .2 = 9,245
Now take the new salary and subtract 9,245 from it
46,225 - 9,245 = 36,980
$36,980 is the old salary
