Question 331928: I was wondering if someone could explain how to figure out the length and width of a rectangle when there is no perimeter mentioned, only the area. I will not give you the exact problem I am working on so that I can figure it out on my own.
Example: width: length: w + 12 and an area of 144. Exactly what steps need to be taken to get the proper answer?

From your Q, I assume that we're looking at a rectangle with width=w, and length=w+12.
Area of the rectangle is width x length.
Hence, w*(w+12) = 144
You can find the value of width first. And then substitute it into the length equation to find the length value.
