Question 324790: one side of a rectangle is 2cm longer than a second side. If the area is 35cm squared, find the dimensions of the rectangle.
Answer by checkley77(12844)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
L=W+2
A=LW
35=(W+2)W
35=W^2+2W
W^2+2W-35=0
(W+7)(W-5)=0
W-5=0
W=5 ANS. FOR THE WIDTH.
L=5+2=7 ANS. FOR THE LENGTH.
PROOF:
35=7*5
35=35
