2((1/2)2*7)=14
28+14=42

4 is length on top 6 on bottom
if the hieght is 7 from left corner of top to bottom is 7in and the right corner of top to bottom is 7in making the bottom into 3 segments

so area of a triangle is (1/2)BH the trapazoid has 2 triangles and a 4*7
so 2((1/2)BH)=area of both triangles =2(7)=14
the rectangle in the middle has sides 4 and 7 so A=LW A=4*7=28
14+28=total area of
