The sides and the diagonal form a right triangle
the sides are the legs of the right triangle
use the pythagoras theorem
3^2+4^2 = diagonal ^2
9+16 = diagonal ^2
25 = diagonal^2
take sqrt on both sides of the equation
5 units= diagonal
