Question 273512: The perimeter of a rectangular field is 606 m. the length is 42 m more than twice the width.
Answer by bobdabuildr(27) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
P=2L+2W
Let x=width , and let 42+2x=length
606=2x+2(42+2x)
606=2x+84+4x
606=6x+84
606-84=6x+84-84 Subtract 84 from both sides
522=6x
87=x Divide both sides by 6
Now plug in the answer for x to get your lenght, 42+2(87)=216
Check
606=2(87)+2(216)
606=174+432
606=606
