Question 262324: Suppose the width of a certain rectangle is 1 inch more than 1/4 of its length. The perimeter of the rectangle is 72 inches find the length.
P=2L+2W
72=

Answer by checkley77(12844)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
W=L/4+1
2L+2W=72
2L+2(L/4+1)=72
2L+L/2+2=72
2.5L=72-2
2.5L=70
L=70/2.5
L=28 ANS.
W=28/4+1
W=7+1=8 ANS.
PROOF:
2*28=2*8=72
56+16=72
72=72
