The length of a rectangle is 8 centimeters less than 3 times the width.
a. Write a polynomial that represents the area of the rectangle.
b. Find the area of the rectangle when the width is 10 centimeters.
Let the width be x
Three times width = 3x
8 cms less than 3x = 3x-8 = length
Area of rectangle = Length * width
= (3x-8)* x
= 3x^2-8x
If width = 10 cms
3*(10)^2 * 10
3*100*10
3000 sq. cms
