Question 258857: the area of a rectangle is 108cm2(squared. the ratio of the width to the lenght is 3:4. find the lenght and the width.
Answer by Stitch(470)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Area of a rectangle = Length * Width
Given: Area = 108cm^2
Ratio = 3:4
The equation:
Simplify the equation
Divide by sides by 12
Take the square root of both sides

So using the ration of 3:4 and our value of X
The width of the retangle = X * 3
Width =
The length of the rectangle = X * 4
Length =

You can check the answer by taking
Also if you divide 9 and 12 by 3, you get 3:4
