Let's represent the width with x and the length will be x+2. Now we can set up an equation as:
x + x + (x+2)+ (x+2) = 24 Combine like terms
4x + 4 = 24 Subtract 4 from both sides will be:
4x = 20 Divide both sides by 4 is:
x = 5
So now we know the width is 5 feet and the length is 7 feet.
