Question 235397: find an equation of the line that passes through (4,3) and its parallel to the line 3x-y=7
Answer by checkley77(12844) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
This line through (4,3) & parallel to (3x-y=7) has a slope of:
Y=mX+b
3x-y=7
-y=-3x+7
y=3x-7 (red line)
slope=3
3=3*4+b
3=12+b
b=3-12
b=-9 the y intercept.
Equation of this line is:
y=3x-9 (green line)
(graph 300x200 pixels, x from -6 to 5, y from -10 to 10, of TWO functions 3x -7 and 3x -9).
