Step 1. Perimeter P is when adding up all the sides of the rectangular.

Step 2. Let w be the width.

Step 3. Let 2w be twice the width

Step 4. Let 2w+10 be the length since the length is 10 more than twice the width.

Step 5. Then P=w%2Bw%2B2w%2B10%2B2w%2B10=6w%2B20=158.

Step 6. Solving the equation in Step 5 yields

Subtract 20 from both sides of the equation

w%2Bw%2B2w%2B10%2B2w%2B20-20=6w%2B10=158-20

6w%2B20-20=158-20

6w=138

Divide 6 to both sides of the equation

6w%2F6=138%2F6

w=23

Then 2w%2B10=56

Check...P=2(23+56)=158...which is a true statement...
