Question 1062799: I was given an answer of 98 for this question. Sorry I'm a little confuse. Should it be 88

The area of Ken's rectangular yard is 480 square feet. The yard is 24 feet wide, In order to fence in the garden completely on all four sides, how many feet of fencing would ken need to buy?
I understood the break down, i'm just not sure where the extra 10 came from
L =20
Perimeter 2L 2W
P=2*20+2*24
p=40+48
p= should it be 88 and 98
Thank you so much

The correct answer is 88 yards, of course.

But I see another deficiency.

You correctly calculated the dimensions as 20 yards and 24 yards.

But the problem INCORRECTLY calls 24 yards as the width.

If dimensions are 20 and 24 yards, then 24 is THE LENGTH and 20 yards is THE WIDTH, according to common use of these terms.
