Question 1057719: models were created to represent trends in employment statistics for men and women from the period 1950-2015. the x-axis represents time and the y-axis represents the percent of people working
women:y=30%+0.6x
men:y=84%-0.2x
A. what do the y-intercepts and the slopes of these functions mean?
B. when will the percentage of women in the workforce equal the percentage of men?
c. what percentage will that be?
Answer by Boreal(15235) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
The y-intercepts are where x=0, so that would be the percentage in 1950.
they are equal when 30+0.6x=84-0.2x
-54=-0.8x
x=67.5
so in 2017.5 (mid 2017) they would be equal
The percentage would be for women 30+0.6(67.5)=70.5
For men, it would be 84-0.2(67.5)=70.5
