A rectangular playground length is 50 meters longer than it is wide. It can be enclosed by 1000 meters of fencing. Find its length

W + (W+50) + W + (W+50) = 1000,

4W + 100 = 1000,

4W = 1000 - 100,

4W = 900,

W =  = 225.

Answer.  The width is 225 m.  The length is 225+50 = 275 m.
