Hi there,
Small rectangle:
Area = 12 cm^2
Length = 4 cm.
Area = Length x Width
Width = Area/Length
Width = 12/4
Width = 3cm.
.........
Putting 6 small rectangles
together to make one large
rectangle.
I have placed them in two rows
of 3.
Length of large rectangle
= 3 x 4 = 12 cm
Width of large rectangle
= 2 x 3 = 6
Area = Length x Width
Area = 12 x 6
Area = 72 cm^2
..........
Perimeter of large rectangle:
Perimeter = 2 x Length + 2 x Width
Perimeter = 2 x 12 + 2 x 6
Perimeter = 36 cm.
Hope this helps :-)
