Make width = 'x'
Length = 3x - 11
Area = width * length (* - times)
70 = x * (3x - 11)
70 = x^2 - 11x
x^2 - 11x - 70 = 0
Factorise:
(3x + 10)(x - 7) = 0
3x + 10 = 0
3x = -10
x = -10/3 (ignored as -ve value)
x - 7 = 0
x = 7
Width = 7 yds
Length = 10 yds
