Question 45475: Hello, I need help with roots and zeros. I don't understand how to find the number of positive real zeros, negative real zeros, or imaginary zeros for a function. I know that you need to count the number of changes in sign for the coefficients but I don't understand how to interpret that.
Ex.
g(x)=x^4+x^3+2x^2-3x-1
Thank you.

Question 46106: Y(x)=-x2+17x-34 I need to know the value of x when y is at maximum value? What is the maximum value of y? Since negative y values are impossible for operating the MRI machine, what is the range of x values for y to be greater than or equal to zero? What is te range of x values where y is at 90% of its maximum value? Plot a graph showing all of the above information.

Question 46791: A polynomial g(x) of degree 5 whose coefficients are real numbers has zeros 2, 3, -3, and 7-i. Find the fifth zero and then determine g(x).
I understand the coefficients and know the 5th zero would have to be 7+i. However, I'm not sure how to then determine g(x). Can anyone help me?
Thanks!

Question 46856: from the information given providing values of f(x) and g(x), evaluate
(f o g)^ -1 (3).
x f(x) g(x)
1 5 4
2 3 5
3 5 1
4 1 3
5 2 2
a. 1
b. 2
c. 4
d. 5
i came up with (d) as my answer, because when x=3 fx=5 so i go to the table and look at 5, and see gx=2 so i then go back to the table for 2 and find g(x)=5
d=5
