Question 185936: I seem to be having problems with the graphing portions. I never know what the graph is going to look like based on the equation. For example, y=(3x^2+4x+4)/(x^2-5x-6). With this problem, I need to find the x-intercepts, the vertical asymptote and (if applicable) the horizontal asymptote. Could you please help me solve this problem? Is there a trick to knowing what general shape your graph will have depending on the equation?

Question 186299: I'm not sure which section this would go under...see, I'm in algebra 3. On my review a question says to write the function
f(x)=x^2 + 18x + 77
in standard form. The answer given is f(x)=(x+9)^2 -4.
I understand the (x+9)^2 part, but for some reason I am stumped about the -4. If someone could please help I'd appreciate it greatly. Thanks so much!

I know how to graph these and the equations for each part of each graph; however, I don't know how to find an equation that will take into account the change in cost per minute. Thanks for any help!
