Question 165725: Hi, Can you help?
.
In my algebra book, It says that if the degree of the numerator is more than the denominator ( by more than one degree ), it does not have any horizontal asymptotes, is this true?
.
only has Vertical asymptotes of , and
.
would only have Vertical asymptotes
.
If the degrees are the same, the Horizontal asymptotes would be the leading coeffiecients, is this true?
.
would have Horizontal asymptotes of
.
If the degree of the numerator is smaller than the denominator, than the Horizontal asymptotes would always be , is this true?
.
, would have a Horizontal Asymtote of
.
If the numerator is only one degree more than the denominator, it doesn't have a Horizontal Asymptote, but it has an Oblique Asymptote (unless it is exactly divisible), is this true?
.
, would have an Oblique Asymptote of , (It has a remainder of
.
Am I correct with all these examples? ( I would appreciate it if I could have an answer as soon as possible )
.
Thanks ahead of time,Levi

Question 166504: These will be the last questions. Please help
1. List all of the possible rational zeros of f(x)=3x^5-7x^3+2x-15.
2. State the number of positive real zeros, negative real zeros, and imaginary zeros for g(x)=9x^3-7x^2+10x-4.
I must show my work. No textbook. Have been absent from school and have a big test on Monday. Need to know how to do these for the test.
Thanks

Question 166503: PLEASE HELP!!!
Graph f(x)=-x^2+4x-3, labeling the y intercept, vertex, and axis of symmetry.
Also
graph f(x)=(-x)^4+4x^2-2x by making a table of values. Then estimate the x-coordinates at which the relative maxima and relative minima occur.
I must show my work. This is a worksheet.
Thanks

Question 166875: Please help me. I'm stumped on 2 problems in Algebra 2.
Here they are:
1. Find the dimensions of a rectangle "a" with the greatest area whose perimeter is 30 feet.
2. Given x^3-4x^2+2x+1=0
(a) How many possible positive roots are there?
(b) How many possible negative roots are there?
(c) What are the possible rational roots?
(d) Using synthetic substitution, which of the possible rational roots is actually a root of the equation?
(e) Find the irrational roots of the equation. (Hint: Use the quadratic formula to solve the depressed equaiton.)
Thanks a lot!

Question 166996: I'm working with a student myself at a Deaf school in Jamaica and we came across a problem that stumped me. The question is:
If f(x)=2x-3, then find the value of f^-1(0)
The part that stumps me is putting f to the power of -1.
We understand how to solve the problem if it's not but to a power.
Thank you so much for your help! I appreciate it greatly.
-Isaac

Question 167480: I dont know how to work out this problem-
You are stenciling wooden boxes to sell at a fair. It takes you 2 hours to stencil a small box and 3 hours to stencil a large box. You make a profit of $10 for a small box, and $20 for a large box. If you have no more than 30 hours available to stencil and want atleast 12 boxes to sell how many of each box should you stencil to maximize your profit ?
a) Identify your variables. If x = small boxes, what does y=______ ?
b) What is the objective function (profit) ?
C=_____x+______y
c)What are the constraints ?
x+y_____12(boxes)
_____x+_____y <_ _____hours
d) Graph your constraints to find the feasible region.
e) How many of each size box should you stencil to maximize your profit ?

Question 167899: I am working with my school website on My Math Lab and this is a question asked. I need to solve for x.
4x(x-2)-5x(x-1)=2
I have already taken the steps to make the problem
4x^2-8x-5x^2-5x=2, but that is all I have. I have been trying by "substitution", but have not found the answer. Please help me solve for x.
Thank you,
Rachel
