Question 158089: I have many problems like this one but some are linear,quadratic,cubic,
well the 1st problem is linear. Y=-2x+1 so we have to graph it and identify the domain and range. I've graphed it but I havent figured out how to find the domain and range. I've tried on other problems...x>0 stuff like that but i dont know if its right. Ive tried going over it a hundred times and even tried looking online on how to identify domain and range...but nothing helps... I'm really struggling with this and 39 other problems just like it.

Question 158257This question is from textbook college algebra
: In fact, I have to solve problem 26, but some information are found in problem 25.here they go.
25) Suppose ABC car rental charges a fixed amount per day plus an amount per mile for renting a car.Heidi rented a car one day and paid $87 for 200 miles. On another day, she rented a car from the same agency and paid $117.50 for 350 miles.Determine the linear function that the agency could use to determine its daily rental charges.
now, the real problem 26) Suppose that Heidi (of problem 25) also has access to speedy car rental, which charges a daily fee of $15.00 plus $ 0.31 per mile.Should Heidi use ABC Car rental from problem 25 or speedy car rental?
well, I started by find 25)f(x)=0.25x+30 and I tried to use f(x)=0.31x+15,with no results.This question is from textbook college algebra

Question 159071: please answer this question: the average cost of tuition fees, room and board for 2 year institution increased from $1979 in 1980 to $4895 in 1997.
A) find the linear function that will give average expense of a two year institution E, as a function of time, x, where x is defined to be the number of years since 1980.
B) use the equation to predict the average expense associated with 2010.
i tried to find the linear function but i got stuck i been here for hours and i could figure it out. i got E=17x+1979-4895

Question 159589: Would you be able to do me a big favor and see if these problems are correct?
#1:
5/x+3 = 3/x-1
(x+3)(x-1). 5/x+3 = (x+3)(x-1)
5(x-1) = 3(x+3)
5x-5 = 3x+9
2x-5 = 9
2x/2 = 14/2
x = 7
#2
x/2x^2 - x-1 = 3/x^2 - 1 + 3/2x+1
x/(2x+1)(x-1) = 3/(x+1)(x-1) + 3/2x+1
x/(2x+1)(x-1)(x+1) = 3/(2x+1)(x-1)(x+1) + 3/(2x+1)(x-1)(x+1)
x(x+1) = 3(2x+1) + 3(x+1)(x-1)
x^2 + x = 3x+3 + 3(x^2-x+x-1)
x^2 + x = 3x+3 + 3x^2-3
x^2 + x = 3x^2 + 3x
(x+1)(x-1) = 3x(x+1)
x-1 = 3x
-1 = 2x
x = -1/2
Thanks for you help! Paul
