Question 31377: I need to do this problem and cannot get how to do it. I need the vertical asymptotes, the horizontal asymptotes and the x and y-intercepts. The problem is f(x)=(x-3)/(x+2). I have to make the graph to go with it and have been reading the chapter over and over again and getting more confused.

Question 31388This question is from textbook College Algebra
: I'm trying to find solutions to this equation:
Sq Root of (11-x^2) - 2 / sq root of (11-x^2) = 1
I tried rationalizing the denominator and squaring the left hand side but I'm left with x^2-8=0. My solution set comes out to x= +/- 2 times the sq root of 2 which I know cannot be.

Question 31390This question is from textbook College Algebra
: Hi again,
I have an equation with a radical inside a radical inside a radical equal to another radical (I'm writing it in exponential form):
(1+(x+(2x+1)^1/2)^1/2)^1/2 = (5+(x)^1/2)^1/2
I tried to square both sides but got lost on the right side after squaring boths sides for the second time coming out with x-3=-x^1/2 after squaring the third time to remove the -x^1/2 remaining on the left side.
Does this equation actually have solutions?

Question 32382: I missed the day that we went over this and my teacher didnt teach it to me well, so im wondering how to figure...
The variable z varies jointly with x and y.
a)write an equation relationg z, x, and y.
b) if x=2, y=1/8, z=3 then find z when x=3&y=-4
If you can just give me an explanation of how to figure this out, that'd be great (do i use z=k(xy)?) If you explain some basics on this subject, i should figure it out. Thanks

Question 32487: I am supposed to find the product with the assumption that the denominator is not 0.
m(n-squared) . 4
__________ ____
3 . mn
I got 4n over 3 for an answer, but this doesn't seem right as I think I should have a variable on the bottom. It would help to know if my answer is correct so I'll know if I'm on the right track.
Thank you for your help.
