x^4+17x^3+60x^2-59x+77=0

Try the factors of 77 first.
1, 7 & 11 (plus and minus)
-----------
f(x) = x^4+17x^3+60x^2-59x+77
See if f(1) = 0
Then f(-1)
Then f(7)
Then f(-7)
etc
----------
If you find a zero, f(z) = 0, divide the polynomial by (x-z)
-----
Then try factors of the coefficient again.
