Question 877469: My exam review has a section on functions that says Evaluate [-77.99], [3.5] and |-7| + [1.09]
Is there anything I can do with these besides prove I understand absolute value or do you think they refer to the previous problem which is a graph of f(x) x if x < 1 and -2x +3 if x >_ 1(can't do greater than or equal to symbol!). You don't have to solve the problems. Please just help me determine what the point of the problem is. I don't understand what my teacher is looking for.

It doesn't seem like they are referring to a previous problem.

Also I am not sure what your notation [x] is. I have occasionally seen [x] to be the floor value of x, in which [-77.99] = -78 and [3.5] = 3, but

is better notation. Btw, you can use >= or \le (

) for less than or equal.
