Question 836274: (Can someone please help me with this question?)
The number of calories K required each day by a moderately active female who wants to maintain her weight is estimated by the formula K=1012.65+6.72w+7.24h-7.24a, where w is weight (in pounds), h is height (in inches), and a is age (in years).
a) The person is moderately active 35-year old woman who weighs 153 lbs. and is 5ft 11 in. tall. Find the number of calories she requires each day in order to maintain her weight?
b) Solve the formula for a?
Answer by LinnW(1048)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
 K=1012.65+6.72w+7.24h-7.24a
Here w = 153 ,
h = ( 5ft 11in) = 5*12 + 11 inches = 60 + 11 = 71
h = 71
a = 35
Substitute these values
K=1012.65+6.72(153)+7.24(71)-7.24(35)
K= 2301.5
Check out www.wolframalpha.com for calculations
solve K=1012.65+6.72w+7.24h-7.24a for a
add 7.24a to each side
7.24a + K = 1012.65+6.72w+7.24h
add -K to each side
7.24a = -K + 1012.65+6.72w+7.24h
divide each side by 7.24
a = (-K + 1012.65+6.72w+7.24h)/7.24
