Hi there, firstly you have a quadratic equation and must find 2 numbers that add to give 8 and 14 however this does not have any two values and you must use the quadratic formula:
the values a,b,c are given by the general quadratic equation ax^2 + bx + c, in-which the corresponding values are the co-efficients (numbers in front of the x)
therefore a = 1, b = 8, c = 14
now put these values into the quadratic formula and solve.. at the final steps you should get two values such that: and
