Question 769291: (x+12)/(4x-16) - (x+4)/(2x-8)Simplify
Answer by DrBeeee(684) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Given:
(1) (x+12)/(4x-16) - (x+4)/(2x-8)
Factor a 4 and 2 out of the denominators to get
(2) (x+12)/4(x-4) - (x+4)/2(x-4) or using the common denominator 4(x-4) we get
(3) ((x+12)- 2(x+4))/4(x-4) or
(4) (x + 12 - 2x -8)/4(x-4) or
(5) (-x+4)/4(x-4) or
(6) -1/4
Answer: (x+12)/(4x-16) - (x+4)/(2x-8) = -1/4
