Question 665574: I am working on a packet where we have to graph rational functions given only a formula. We are to find the x and y intercepts, and any vertical asymptotes, holes, horizontal asymptotes, or slant asymptotes. I am stuck on this question. y=(12x)/(x^2 + 2) I know that to find an asymptote, you must factor the denominator. I don't know how to find the factor of x^2 + 2. All the other problems in the packet factored easily and I could solve. I am stuck. Please help me! Thank you so much!

has no real roots, the roots being . If the denominator of a rational function never goes to zero, then there are no vertical asymptotes. Use your graphing calculator or a graphing program (Graph, available for free download at Padowan) to get a picture of the function and see that there are no vertical asymptotes.
