Question 655710: What is the formula for f^-1(x) when f(x)=2x+5 and what is the domain of f^-1? And how did you find the answer?
Answer by MathDazed(34) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
To find the inverse of a function you simply put it to 'y' and make 'x' the subject
f(x) = 2x + 5
y = 2x +5
y - 5 = 2x
(y-5)/2 = x
Then you interchange x with y
Therefore you should now have y = (x-5)/2
f^-1(x) = (x-5)/2
Domain is all real numbers
