Question 653512: Find and equation for the line that meets these conditions (Graph the lines and label any intercept):
Perpendicular to y=7, and goes through (-1,4)
Answer by schmidtmomto6(24) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! If you put your given line in slope-intercept form, it would be y=0x+7. This, then, shows us that the slope of that line is 0. It is a horizontal line, passing thru the Y-axis at point (0,7). Since only a vertical line is perpendicular to a horizontal line, the new line must be vertical. Since it is given that the line passes thru (-1,4) we can conclude that the new line will be a vertical line that intercepts the x axis at x=-1. This also is the equation of the line: "x=-1"
