Question 63215: can't seem to get this
Let f(x)=|x| and g(x)=x+2. Write the function F(x)-|x+2| as a comosition of the functions f and g

Answer by stanbon(75887)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Let f(x)=|x| and g(x)=x+2. Write the function F(x)-|x+2| as a comosition of the functions f and g
-----------
Look at F(x)=|x+2|
Look at the "x".
What is the 1st thing that happens to the "x"?
Ans: It has 2 added to it.
What is the next thing that happens to the "x+2"?
Ans: You take the absolute value.
-------------
The composite must 1st add 2 to the x then take the absolute value of the result.
F(x)=f(g(x) is the answer to your problem.
Why?
f(g(x))=f(x+2)=|x+2|
Got it?
Cheers,
Stan H.
