Question 614233: I need to find the rational zero's for Q(x)=3x^5-5x^4-12x^3+8x^2+17x+5
When I use the rational zero theorem, I get the possible zeros as (+ or -)1,1/3,5,5/3 ... But when I plug this equation into my calculator I get different zero's. And then when I tried to do synthetic division to test my possible zero's I just got way mixed up. I'm not sure if I'm missing something really simple and not seeing it? Once I figure out the answers I'm supposed to write a paper on how I arrived at my answer, and I'm totally stuck at the very beginning :/ your help would be super appreciated.. thank you!!
Answer by scott8148(6628) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
test the possibles individually (-1 works)
you don't need to do synthetic, you can just substitute the value and see if Q=0
watch for multiple roots
