Question 580191: How would you solve... ((1/x)^2-(x)^2)/((1/x)+(x))=(3/2)
When i tried solving it i got stuck when trying to factor it. do not know what to do when there is an (x^40) Please help! thank you :)

Answer by scott8148(6628)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
if m is 1/x, you then have (m^2 - x^2) / (m + x) = 3/2

factoring ___ [(m + x)(m - x)] / (m + x) = 3/2 ___ m - x = 3/2

replacing m ___ (2/x) - 2x = 3

multiplying by x ___ 2 - 2x^2 = 3x ___ 0 = 2x^2 + 3x - 2

factoring ___ 0 = (2x - 1)(x + 2)
