Question 53735: can someone please show me how to graph y>[x+2]-3
NOTE THAT THE [ ] ARE ABS SIGNS
Answer by AnlytcPhil(1806) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
can someone please show me how to graph y > |x+2| - 3
`
First graph the equation y = |x+2| - 3
`
by plotting these points
`
(-8,3), (-6,1), (-3,-2), (-2,-3), (-1,-2), (0,-1), (1,0), (3,2) (4,3)
`
Then connecting them left to right. You get this V-shaped graph:
`
`
Then since it's " y > " you draw the graph dotted, not solid as it is
drawn above, and shade the region above (inside) the V shaped graph.
[I can't draw it dotted or shade anything on here, as you know].
If it were < you would have shaded the entire region below (outside)
the V-shaped graph.
