the problem is : y= -|3x+4|

The vertex is when what's between the absolute value bars = 0.
                                         3x+4 = 0
                                           3x = -4
                                            x = 
                
The two equations are

y = -(3x+4)  for x ≧   and  y = -(-3x+4) or y = 3x-4 for x < 

The vertex is the point (,0) 

Get a point on each side of the vertex.

 x |  y
-2 | -2
 | 0
 0 | -4
